Yonity Dao. Dao means Blade, Knife or Razor in mandarin, while in Yonity's case, a Razor, spelled Razer.
Yonity has been around for pretty long, but only recently start to produce yoyo for sale.
their first official release is the Dao. Jex produce some yoyos before, but they weren't really promoted through websites, this time he's back, with Yonity's new axle system, featured in Dao. more photos.
one of the selling point other than the new axle system, is the ceramic ball bearing that comes along with their yoyo. he once jokingly said that its like you're buying the ceramic ball bearing with the yoyo free. now, Jex wants to pin-point something about the bearing, do not clean it with any solvent/lighter fluid/mineral spirit, etc, if you have to, just blow through the bearing hard enough. and also, the pads that came with Yonity yoyos are made of a kind of stretchy silicone, similar to a type that I got from Shine long ago, there's no adhesive, you can remove it and put it back easily.
Last three photo shows how the bearing is being apply on.
you simply just slot it in, it can be easily removed as well. Uncle Steve once comment somewhere that isn't it similar to Viper's axle? I have a Viper, but I personally think maybe not, Viper kinda have this ASG system but the Dao does not, its a fixed gap, and there's nothing to lock the bearing onto the axle. but I guess visually, they do look a little similar.

now some players have tried the yoyo and feel that the axle system wasn't necessary, I personally feel this is their special feature. it's not a must, but every company has a special feature, I guess? and this is Yonity's. it does make the removing of bearing very easy, and its smooth. and it doesn't give me any problem, because some new technologies haven't been experimented enough, and turn out to give consumer/players some unknown problem/issue, but Dao does not.
so, my first impression of this yoyo was so-so, but as I play with it, I begin to enjoy it.
honestly speaking, the new axle system doesn't make it feel any much different from the regular good metals, maybe thats why it felt so-so the first time I threw it because I was expecting something different, but Jex did said that aside from the axle system, its just another regular good metal, no lie, but the new axle system does help players out alot. It's still smooth, good stability, long spin, but the grinding isn't really butter smooth for me, it still grinds, and does grinds long enough, but the feeling of the yoyo grinding on the hand/finger, its not the butter smooth feeling, you can feel the yoyo "running" on your skin. I think thats the best I can interpret for the grind part.
Flops are stable, IRG's possible, horizontal not a problem.
Slacks, lacerations, definitely not a problem. and yea, since the axle is different from usual yoyos, many would want to know, does it vibe? no, it does not, mine have a couple small scuffs, but still fine. binds, binds are tight. overall a pretty good freestyle yoyo, but i heard the Jei is much better than Dao, how much better? actually kinda subjective, it depends on individuals, but I've already heard few people saying the Jei is better than the Dao. can't wait to get the sample. Dao will be one of the sample throws that I'll be bringing to meet-ups, so do try it out.
