Classic 888.

this post is pretty much about what i think of Classic 888 or whatsoever, probably just wanna share some pictures with those who are interested in the comparison between the 888 series, from 07 888 to classic 888.

i think i've mention how to spot the different in Classic 888 to 07 888, although its hard to get a 07 888 now, especially with the original packaging, but i guess i'll talk about it again.
888 collectors and users probably know how to spot the difference, but if u really can't spot it... the first thing is, the packaging...
the Classic 888 Packaging is a premium packaging and uses Black on Gold border theme, looks like this(the background):

while the 07 888 uses small boxes, brown and white, depending on which run u got:


other than packaging, refer to the image below...
check out the hubstack pole. every series of the 888 has hollow pole while the Classic 888 has a capped pole. this is the most obvious one...
well if u need more, check out the logo, both 07 888 and Classic 888 share the same artwork logo, but there's a slight different,
the Classic 888 uses a outline-ish one at that.
what about 08 888 u ask, mine's a b-grade and there's no logo engrave on it, but 08 888 has 2 types of logo, one of which is like the one on the 09 888, but larger and pretty much takes up the whole face of the 08 888, the other will look like this, but imagine it anodized, those with this engravement are mostly limited colors and such. packaging wise for 08 888, easy, its not the black with gold border theme.

why din't i talk about the difference between the 09 888 and the Classic 888?
cause.... they're different visually, 09 888 got larger/higher wall, larger space inside hub.
so if you're getting a second hand 888, and you don't know what series you're getting, don't just look at the packaging, ask for pictures of the insides and etc.
the only similarity shared between the Classic 888 and 09 888 are the ridge on the H-profile.

if u look at the ridge on the H-profile of the 07 and 08 888(above), they're more of an obvious.... seam? line? whatever u call that. where else the 09 888 and Classic 888 are more of a real H-profile.


overall i would say the Classic 888 has all of the 888 series' "dna/genes"...
with the 07 888 pre-pro's shape/walls, the H-profile ridge of 09 888, and probably the stability of the 08 888. and of cuz other things...
the 07 888 was the best, but it has its flaw.
the 08 and 09 888 were the improved version, but they're just not as good.
the Classic 888 is what u want from the 07 888 minus the flaws with the add-ons improvement from the 08 and 09 888.

at the end of the day, u can say, "what are all this crap you talking about?" but its just my 2cents i would like to share with all.
